Diesel Performance Product Guide & Store
There are many diesel performance parts and products out there. Which one is right for you? Huckstorf Diesel has spent lots of time doing the research and testing many products so you don't have to. From diesel performance chips, to tuners, to modules, to intake systems, and exhaust systems we know what works and we will be happy to sort out your options. We took the time to break it down for you into sections and give you options and suggestions in each of those sections. In the Performance area there are truck specific products that make the power. The Exhaust area has complete systems or individual parts so you can build your own custom exhaust or stack kit. We offer a wide variety of Gauges & Holders to monitor what is going on with your truck. The Air Intake System section is also broken down by truck brand so you can easily find the right one. Performance Transmissions
Weather you are towing heavy or a performance addict, you will eventually need a transmission that can handle what you are throwing at it.
The first weak link in factory transmissions is the torque converter. The factory torque converter has a single clutch disk in a stamped steel housing. The single disk will wear out and the stamped steel housing can warp which will not allow the clutch to seat properly. The converters that we recommend have multiple clutches and a billet aluminum housing that will not warp. You will definitely notice a big difference when towing or at the strip when you are getting all the power your engine is making to the rear wheels instead of getting lost in the slip of the torque converter!
The second weak link in factory transmissions is the clutches. The clutches are what keep the engine power connected to the rear drive line. If the clutches are slipping it is like drag racing on icy roads; you don't get far. The solution is to add more clutches with better grip. Having more surface area of grip distributes the load applied. That way you can tow a heavier load and / or apply more power without slipping.
I don't recommend doing only one of the above because the labor to pull and install the transmission is costly, and if you do just one, the other is sure to fail. The best answer is to get a complete transmission. That way you get the best warranty and you know it was assembled using all the best components and techniques. If you can't quite afford the entire transmission there are upgrade kits available for various power levels. You save some money, but you do not get as long of a warranty. Be sure if you do get an upgrade kit that a knowable installer like Huckstorf Diesel is doing the work for you!
