Taking Filtration to the Next Level with Pro-Guard 7
To address the need for extra protection from dust and dirt with washable/reusable oil-impregnated cotton gauze filters, aFe developed a new filtration technology so revolutionary that AFE applied for and received a patent. This new filtration technology is aptly called Pro-GUARD 7. 5 layers of progressively finer mesh medical grade cotton gauze with micro fibers that attract smaller and smaller particles as air passes through is combined with 2 layers of random-porosity non-woven synthetic polyester fabric. These 7 layer combination of cotton gauze and non-woven polyester is sandwiched between 2 layers of epoxy coated aluminum wire mesh. When you use your vehicle in a severe duty or work application, it is important to give the engine a high level of protection from dirt and dust. With 7 layers of media, Pro-GUARD 7 is able to offer the level of protection to the engine that is unsurpassed of any washable/reusable filters. Pro Dry S dry-media filters increase airflow providing improved horsepower, torque, and fuel economy with 99.4%* filtration efficiency. Perhaps the greatest benefit of new Pro Dry S filters is the convenience of servicing these oil-free filters. To clean a Pro Dry S filter lightly tap it on the ground, vacuum it, or wash with soap and water. Solvents and oiling are not necessary. Pro Dry S dry-media filters by AFE are now available on all intake systems for diesel trucks. Replacement Pro Dry S filters are also available and sold individually if you choose to change your existing AFE system to an oil free filter.

AFE applied their team of air flow engineers to the task of improving air flow into the Ford 6.0L engine. Great improvements were made in the air cleaner systems, and they also found that improvements in the intake manifold resulted in even more gains! The problem with the factory manifold is that it has a sharp turn which is restrictive and causes turbulence in the air stream. AFE uses their multiple directional vane technology with gradual turns to create a smooth air flow stream. Two 1/8" NPT ports are installed for easy and clean gauge installation and other auxiliary input options.
